National Library Day & Vayalar Remembrance

Carmelgiri College, Adimali observed National Library Day on August 12, 2026. As part of the observance, the college organized a Vayalar Ramavarma Remembrance program to honor the great poet and lyricist. The program commenced with a Welcome Address by Mrs. Sobhana Rajan, Librarian. Dr. TK Sunil, Principal, presided over the function and inaugurated the program. Mrs. Geo M Joy, IQAC Co-ordinator, delivered the Felicitation address and emphasized the vital role of libraries and librarians in society. She appreciated all librarians and made a special mention of the Librarian of Carmelgiri College. Ms. Helen Treza Varghese from the Department of Psychology delivered a thought-provoking speech on the life, works and contributions of  Vayalar Ramavarma. As a token of gratitude, the NSS Unit and the Department of Languages presented a memento to Mrs. Sobhana Rajan. The Principal also distributed prizes to the winners of the music competition conducted in connection with Library Day. The highlight of the program was a soulful musical tribute to Vayalar presented by 'Music Buds of Carmelgiri'. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Nandhana Muralidharan. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff and concluded successfully.
